1. Cruise Director and Cruise Leaders:

We can never have too many cruises for kayaks and canoes. Our members like anything from a week trip to the BWCAW to an easy hour on the lakes of Minneapolis or St. Paul. We need volunteers to lead these “heart of the MCA” activities. A cruise for grand-kids? Minnehaha Creek? Rice Creek? Overnights on the St. Croix? If you have a cruise to lead, use this e-mail for now and remove the double XX MCAcruisingXX@canoe-kayak.org [ Currently, mail to this address goes on to the MCA President. ]

 

2. Team members for producing our newsletter, Mn Paddler:

You can be part of our Mn Paddler Production Team. Contact MCAeditorXX@canoe-kayak.org (remove XX before sending).

Jay Hawkinson has been both Editor and Layout person for Mn Paddler for about four years. We would like very much to give him a well deserved sabbatical. Hence opportunity is wide open.

Editor: Gather news stories and articles from our members and other sources, gather announcements of activities and reports of event, entice articles and info from the MCA Board. Jay is available for some assistance to a new editor.

Layout person: Work with the editor and photo editor to provide photo-ready copy of Mn Paddler to our printer. Jay will help a new person here also.

Photo Editor: Gather photos and identities and captions for any and all events as well as "how to" articles. Some assistance to the Website manager could also be rendered.

Advertising Manager: Maintain contact with our longtime supporters and advertisers, sell some new ads. Learn some new skills, meet some outdoor business people, promote the MCA,Inc. Pam McDonald has done this for many years now, has some files and is willing to help a newcomer mesh into the team. Contact Pam (remove the double X) at MCAadvertisingXX@canoe-kayak.org

 

4. Calendar Manager for the MCA,Inc., Mn Paddler and Canoe-Kayak.org

Take information about cruises, presentations, meetings, etc. and enter it into a calendar used by the Mn Paddler newsletter and our website. Co-ordinate with the Board and the editor and the webmaster. Send inquiry to MCAcalendarXX@canoe-kayak.org (and remove the XX from the address before sending).

5. New Board members:

Jim Horan has just (Aug09) joined the board as Public Relations Director.

This brings us to seven new Board members this year. Volunteer to fill the remaining positions to promote kayaking and canoeing.

 

Volunteer Director: Keep track of the many activists in the MCA,Inc. that help with our public events or the various “nuts and bolts” functions of the club.

Publications Director: Assist the Mn Paddler Editor with the mechanics of publishing the Mn Paddler, oversee any other publications sold by the MCA, Inc.

 

6. Canoe Building Help--Found!

We now have not one, but two people who are helping MCA members who are building cedar-strip boats with plans and directions from the MCA,Inc. Don Ternes is our new Building Director. Doug Nordang is doing the mailing of plans and the build-book. Contact info for both is available in Mn Paddler mailed to members, or use this e-mail address—remove the double X before mailing.
